“The best defence is a good offense.”

Today my son, my beautiful two year old baby boy, told me he loved me for the very first time – uncoerced, without ceremony, without me having to say it first.

I then walked into the living room to find he’d peed all over his toy train – the very same train his baby brother was climbing all over (or rather, splashing about on.)

It was an offensive move. I’m not so sure how I feel about the sentiment of his professed love any more.
